Important Production Update for Sicilia 1943

After a false start with the wrong manufacturer — almost eight weeks for a first prototype that was nearly perfect, but without the die-cut counters — I changed suppliers, and the new prototype finally arrived this week.

This one is perfect, as you can see from the photos below.

There are only a few minor details left to fine-tune, but next week we’ll start mass production, which should take approximately 4–6 weeks. The games will be shipped immediately afterwards. The copies for Australia will be shipped directly from the factory. A small portion will be sent to the United States to a fulfillment center; I don’t know which one yet, as I’m still waiting for the quotes. The rest will be shipped to Europe. This is a very complex production, at least for me. I had never produced a game this large before, and there are so many details to keep under control.

The number of components has grown considerably:

  • 4 standard maps

  • 2 small maps

  • Landing, Command, and Air Control displays

  • Various charts and tables

  • 4 sheet of counters

  • Italian and English rulebooks, plus the setup book

  • Dice

So, quite a lot of material!

Together with the manufacturer, we’ve done an excellent job, and the quality is outstanding, especially the counters.

The remaining corrections concern the varnishing of the maps and the die-cutting of the Landing Display — both very simple things to fix.

I’m sorry for the wait, but the game has been genuinely complicated to manage. I believe, though, that in the end it will really be worth it.

Enjoy the photos, and please feel free to write to me if you have any questions!
